Hello Swimmers!

Giving you all a heads up on lap swim hours for the rest of this week and for the summer. And a reminder about glass at the pool.

Early morning lap swim is from 6:00AM-7:00AM. Swim team practices start at 7:00AM. The schedule is always posted on the website, in the lobby and in the weekly newsletter.

We will have Adult laps on Saturdays and Sundays 11:00AM-12:00PM

We will no longer have weekday adult laps as we transition to our full summer schedule. That being said there will always be 2 lap lanes open going north-south during open swim hours.

NO GLASS ALLOWED AT WEDGWOOD POOL

Please do not bring glass to the pool. It is a safety hazard to our staff and patrons. 

Hello Wedgwood!

We have officially made it into Summer! Seattle Public Schools are almost out of school, swim meets have started, and soon we will be operating with full on summer hours! 

The pool has been filled with happy swimmers and enthusiastic sunbathers and I wanted to make another reminder to everyone who enjoys the pool about our expectations and our staff. Our staff is made up of a wonderful crew of high school and college students from around the area. They love working here and are tasked with keeping every one safe. If they see something they deem as unsafe happening in or around the pool they are trained to ask the patron to stop. Please follow their instruction, and if you are unsure of why it is unsafe please find them when they are down from the chair to ask them about it. If you don’t understand their answer please follow up with me via email or finding me when I am here. 

Home meet this Thursday June 29th, 2023 so the pool will be closing at 4:00PM

Announcements: 

Water Aerobics: One more week until we start! July 5th is the day, and our instructors are ready to go. This year we are not allowing guests for water aerobics to ensure that it does not get too crowded for all you members. Price will be $75 for an unlimited season pass and $10 per drop in class. 

4th of July: We will be doing a fun float 12:00-2:00PM with a sweet treat following. We will also be closing at 7:00PM so that everyone can get to their desired location to watch the fireworks! 

Senior Night Swim Meet: Coming up on July 6th. Save the date and come on down to celebrate our seniors in their final home meet. 

Adult Swim Team: Begins on Monday July 3rd (but taking July 5th off)! Get your caps and goggles ready all you adults. Practices will be Mondays and Wednesdays 8-9PM being led by your wonderful coaches Kai Haven and Annie Galloway. 

Hello Wedgwood! 

This week’s newsletter has a lot of information and updates so buckle up and get your reading glasses on!

Reminder of expectations at Wedgwood Pool:  We all love this place and wouldn’t be members if we didn’t! With that in mind, we all need to remember that even though we use the pool in a variety of ways Wedgwood does have expectations and guidelines that must be followed to ensure that everyone can remain safe both physically and emotionally while using the pool.

Our wonderful staff has earned the responsibility of upholding these expectations, and they do a great job of doing so if you ask me! Additionally, members of all ages must be aware of those expectations and do their part in following them. If you have a question about why a guard is asking you to do something, ask them! They are well trained young professionals and will give you their rationale. If you have further questions, please follow the guard’s instructions and then follow up with me and we can talk about what is going on.

Here are the expectations that are posted in the lobby:

Wedgwood Swim Pool Expectations
Patrons at Wedgwood Swim Pool are expected to behave in a manner which:
1. is non-violent and non-threatening.
2. shows respect toward other patrons and staff.
3. shows respect and care for property.
4. maintains the safety of themselves, other patrons, and the staff.
5. allows the staff to perform their duties and maintain a safe environment.



Important note about the schedule this week:
We are hosting two home swim meets! So the
pool will close at 4:00pm on Tuesday the 20th and 4:00pm on Thursday the 22nd .

Announcements:

Guest Policy:
Guests are welcome during open swim hours. With space being limited during
early morning lap swim and adult lap swim we are not allowing guests during these hours.

Water aerobics: Will be starting on July 5th! We have instructors ready to go and they are as excited as you all to have water aerobics going at Wedgwood again. This year we are not allowing guests for water aerobics to make sure there is enough space for you members.

Family swim: Will be starting on July 3 rd going Monday-Thursday from 5:30-7:00PM (Unless we have a home meet). For family swim, we will take the basketball hoop out to calm down the rukus that can be created in that area with the hoop in. Our hope is that families can enjoy this time together at the pool in a little calmer setting.

Teen Swim: Starts June 30th ! Teen swim will be Fridays and Saturdays from 7:00-9:00PM. During these hours teens can bring guests that will not be marked on guests cards and will only cost $5!

Announcements:

There is still time to submit your art for the chance to be featured as the cover art for the 2023 directory!

Members between the ages 5‐18 are encouraged to submit art to be used for the directory cover. Those artists selected will have their entries printed on either the front or back cover of the 2023 WW Pool Membership Directory.

• Use an 81⁄2 x 11” white blank sheet of paper and fold it in half the hamburger way (landscape format folded in half). 
• Draw on one side of the paper. (The entry will be 81/2 high x 5”wide). 
• Use black ink and white paper. 
• Include the words: “Wedgwood Swim Pool Directory” and “2023″ in your design. 
• Write your name and age on the back of the drawing. 
• Drop off your entry at the pool by Friday, June 15th.
